Buses will take over train services as a level crossing closes for essential repairs, affecting travel between Beverley and Scarborough.
Driffield: So, here’s the scoop. Buses are stepping in for trains while they fix a level crossing. This is happening on Skerne Road, and it’s going to be closed for nearly a week.
Motorists will have to take a detour, and rail replacement buses will run between Beverley and Scarborough. Just a heads up, trains will only go as far as Beverley during this time.
Network Rail is on it, saying they’re replacing some really old equipment. They’ll be putting in a new crossing deck, upgrading to a four-barrier system, and making it easier for vehicles to get through.
The closure kicks off at 7 am on Tuesday, January 28, and will last until 7 am on Monday, February 3. After that, trains will be back in action. There’ll also be a shuttle bus for pedestrians to get around the detour.
Amelia Fordyce from Network Rail mentioned that these upgrades are super important for keeping things safe and reliable. They can’t get spare parts for the old crossing anymore, so if something goes wrong, it could really mess things up for everyone.
She apologized for the hassle this will cause on the busy Hull to Scarborough line and reminded folks to check National Rail Enquiries before heading out.
Kerry Peters from Northern added that travelers should plan for extra time on their journeys while the work is going on. This project is crucial for keeping the rail service safe and dependable for years to come, and they appreciate everyone’s patience.
