The NovusFosse bus service will cease operations, impacting residents of New Lubbesthorpe and altering travel to Fosse Park.
Leicester: So, it looks like the bus route that connected Fosse Park to the new housing estate in New Lubbesthorpe is getting the chop. The NovusFosse service is set to stop on January 6, and that’s a bummer for the folks living there.
Central Connect and GO Travel Solutions, the bus operators, decided to make some changes after reviewing the bus network. They said there just weren’t enough passengers to keep the service running. It’s a tough call, but they’ve got to make sure the services are sustainable.
But don’t worry too much! They’re planning to put the resources from the cancelled route into improving other local services. The NovusDirect service will get more frequent buses during off-peak times, which is a plus.
If you need to get to Fosse Park now, you’ll have to take a different route. Central Connect suggests hopping on the NovusDirect to Thorpe Astley and then switching. Starting January 6, that service will run every 15 minutes during the day on weekdays.
Students heading to Brockington College are still covered, as there will be two NovusDirect services that extend to the Kirk Lane bus stop at school times. They’ll run through Beggars Lane, so that’s good news for them.
For those who travel on weekends, you’ll see more buses on Saturdays, with services running every 20 minutes during the day. Plus, late afternoon and evening buses will now run every half hour, which is way better than the old schedule.
Just a heads up, starting January 6, single fares on the NovusDirect will be £2.50, since the Government’s fare cap scheme is ending. But if you’re just going between New Lubbesthorpe and Thorpe Astley, it’ll still be £1.50.
