Redcar: A fresh year brings a wave of new projects to the area. The local council is busy overseeing several building initiatives that are set to change the landscape.

First up is a new hotel in Coatham. It’s going to be a four-floor, 42-bedroom spot right where the old Rkade skate park used to be. Construction kicks off in early 2025, and it’s expected to create around 50 jobs. The project is backed by a £6 million investment from the Tees Valley Combined Authority and the Government’s Towns Fund.

Then there’s the revamp of Redcar Central Station. With £7 million in funding, this historic station is getting a makeover to turn it into a lively hub for leisure and retail. The goal is to finish it by winter 2025, making it a welcoming gateway to the town.

Next, a family leisure attraction and cultural hub is in the works. It’ll feature bowling, laser tag, and climbing facilities, plus a new library. They’ve started demolishing old buildings to make way for this exciting venue, which should be ready by summer 2026.

In Guisborough, they’re improving the town center with new pedestrian areas and outdoor spaces. This project is also funded by levelling up cash and aims to enhance the visitor experience. Work is set to start next summer.

Saltburn is getting a facelift too, with improvements along the foreshore to enhance the visitor experience. This includes new railings and street furniture, all due to be completed by March next year.

Loftus is seeing some action as well, with plans to turn the old United Reformed Church into artist studios and a gallery. This project is nearing completion and should wrap up in January.

Temperance Square in Loftus is also getting a new employment and skills hub, with work expected to finish in spring next year. Meanwhile, Eston precinct is set for a major redevelopment, with plans for new retail spaces and community areas, aiming for completion between April and July 2026.

Lastly, a new pool is on the way in Eston, replacing the old facility that closed in 2020. This new center will feature a 25-meter pool and is expected to open in early 2026.

All these projects are part of a broader effort to boost the local economy and improve community spaces. It’s an exciting time for Redcar and Cleveland!
