Edward Pettifer, a 31-year-old British man, was among the victims of the New Orleans attack, prompting heartfelt tributes from his family and friends
New Orleans: A tragic incident unfolded on New Year’s Day when a British man was killed in a terror attack. Edward Pettifer, just 31, was one of the 14 victims. His family described him as a “wonderful son, brother, and friend.” They’re heartbroken and asked for privacy to grieve.
The chaos began when Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old army vet, drove his SUV into a crowd on Bourbon Street. He was shot by police after what they called a “very intentional” act. The FBI labeled the attack as premeditated terrorism, stating Jabbar was inspired by ISIS.
Authorities believe Jabbar didn’t act alone. The FBI is looking for anyone who interacted with him in the days leading up to the attack. Louisiana Rep Troy Carter emphasized that they’re leaving no stone unturned in the investigation.
Investigators have found footage of several individuals placing an explosive device related to the attack. Jabbar also tried to destroy evidence by setting fire to a house he rented, but the fire didn’t spread. They discovered bomb-making materials and an ISIS flag at his properties.
In addition, police found guns and pipe bombs hidden in coolers, all wired for remote detonation. The situation is still developing, and the community is in shock over this senseless violence.
