Bristol Airport’s Flyer service has hit a milestone, carrying over one million passengers, making travel easier and more sustainable for everyone.
When you combine it with the A3 service from Weston-super-Mare, they’ve had a whopping 1.3 million journeys in 2024. This makes it super easy for folks to visit family, friends, or even take a holiday without the hassle of driving.
The A1 route has seen nearly a 20% jump in passengers since last year, while the A3 has had a 32% increase. Plus, a lot of staff are using the Flyer too, with almost a quarter of a million journeys made by airport employees this year. They even get free rides!
From May to September, the numbers stayed pretty steady, but August was the busiest month with over 126,000 trips. To get more people on board, they offered some sweet deals like 50% off and discounts for families, kids, and students.
Ed Condon, the transport development manager, shared that it’s fantastic to see so many people choosing this option. He mentioned that 17% of staff are now using the Flyer to get to work, which is a step towards more sustainable travel. He encouraged everyone to sign up for their Rewards emails and keep an eye on social media for special offers.
If you want to grab a ticket, you can do it online through the airport’s website or right on the bus using contactless payment. They’ve made it super easy to find ticket prices and schedules online.
And if you’re looking to travel further, you can buy tickets on any First Bus in the Bristol or Weston zones and connect to the Airport Flyer without any extra cost. It’s a great way to access the rail network from places like Bristol Temple Meads and Weston-super-Mare.
Ed also hinted that a new timetable is coming in the spring, which will include more frequent overnight services. Sounds like they’re really working to make things better for everyone!
