Birmingham: Early this morning, a fire broke out in a flat in Birmingham city centre, sending five people to the hospital. Among them was a man who was arrested on suspicion of arson.

The fire started around 5:15 AM in a second-floor bedroom of a block of flats on Islington Row Middleway. Firefighters were on the scene quickly, and they did an amazing job containing the blaze.

Three men and one woman were treated for smoke inhalation at Midland Metropolitan Hospital. Another person was rescued from a staircase, which is pretty scary stuff.

Police confirmed that the man arrested will be questioned later. They were called to the scene shortly after the fire started, and thankfully, no one else was hurt.

Fire crews from several stations responded, and they were able to get the fire under control pretty fast. They even managed to check all the neighboring flats to ensure everyone was safe.

It’s a relief that the situation didn’t escalate further, but it’s still a shocking event for the community. The investigation is ongoing, and we’ll keep an eye on any updates.
