Hull: So, there was this crazy scene in Hull where a dad of six, Tony Mulchinock, got caught up in some serious trouble. He actually set fire to a car during a wild riot back in August. The whole day was just chaos, with a mob causing all sorts of mayhem.

Mulchinock, who’s 35 and from Bransholme, smashed a car window and lit it up while people were hiding inside a garage, scared for their lives. The court heard it was a day filled with hate-fueled violence, and he was right in the thick of it.

He admitted to charges of violent disorder and arson. The CCTV footage showed him being aggressive towards the police and even kicking a police car. It was a pretty intense situation, and he ended up setting a VW Passat on fire, which was completely destroyed.

While all this was happening, people, including kids, were trapped inside the garage, fearing for their safety. Mulchinock’s lawyer said he didn’t plan to get involved in the riots; he just happened to be there after taking a bus to meet a friend.

He claimed he was just trying to place a bet when he stumbled into the chaos. But once he got hit by a police officer, he lost his cool and things escalated quickly. He knows he messed up and feels really sorry for his actions.

Despite having a past conviction from when he was a teenager, he hadn’t been in trouble for anything like this before. He had been working in warehouses but lost his job due to being homeless. Now, he’s been in custody since late September.

The judge wasn’t having any of it, though. He said Mulchinock played a major role in the violence and sentenced him to three years and nine months in prison. It’s a tough lesson learned for him, that’s for sure.
