A serious two-car accident in Birmingham led to a major road closure and a woman being rushed to the hospital for treatment
Birmingham: A main road was closed for hours after a two-car crash left a woman seriously injured. The accident happened on the A435 Haden Way in Balsall Heath just before 11:30 AM on Wednesday.
It involved a white Toyota, thought to be a taxi, and a blue car. The road was shut down in both directions between Haden Circus and Moseley Road, causing a lot of traffic and major delays.
Four ambulance crews rushed to the scene, including a trauma doctor and a critical care paramedic. They found a woman with potentially serious injuries, and she was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Selly Oak. A man at the scene had minor injuries and was treated but didn’t need to go to the hospital.
The ambulance service said they got the call about the crash at 11:24 AM. When they arrived, they saw the two cars had collided. The woman received treatment before being taken to the hospital.
The road remained closed for accident investigation but reopened a little after 1:30 PM, with traffic starting to ease up afterward. West Midlands Police has been contacted for more information.
