Birmingham’s busy roads are catching thousands of speeders, with average speed cameras recording over 4,000 violations last year alone
These roads are the top spots for speeders, with cameras catching drivers in both directions between Haden Circus Roundabout and Five Ways Island. The data, shared under freedom of information laws, shows that these cameras are definitely doing their job.
In fact, 4,020 vehicles were recorded speeding in 2024, which breaks down to about 84 speeders every week. That’s a lot of tickets!
And it’s not just these two roads. Another hotspot is the A4540 New John Street West, where another 3,598 drivers were caught speeding. That’s around 75 each week!
These locations are where drivers are most often caught breaking the speed limit. Just recently, we reported that cameras on the Black Country New Road near Bilston caught over 5,700 speeders during the same timeframe.
The average speed cameras have been set up in various areas across Birmingham and the Black Country over the past few years. Police are looking to add even more cameras to help keep our roads safer. This info came out after a request to West Midlands Police about where speeders are most frequently caught.
