West Midlands Police urge people not to travel to Birmingham city centre amid false fireworks display claims for New Year’s Eve
Birmingham: So, there’s been some chatter about fireworks in the city centre for New Year’s Eve. But guess what? The police are saying it’s not happening. West Midlands Police made it clear that there won’t be a display in Centenary Square tonight as we ring in 2025.
They took to social media to set the record straight, saying, “this is not the case.” They really don’t want anyone making the trip only to be let down. The police are urging folks to stay put and avoid unnecessary travel.
This year, there’s no planned event. But don’t worry, there will be plenty of officers around to keep an eye on things and make sure everyone has a good time at the local bars and clubs.
Birmingham Superintendent Emlyn Richards mentioned that while there are rumors about fireworks, it’s just not true. He wants to make sure no one shows up only to find out there’s nothing going on.
With thousands expected to head into the city, the police will be out and about to help keep the night fun and safe. They’re teaming up with Birmingham City Council to make sure everyone enjoys the evening.
West Midlands Police are all about keeping the vibe positive. They’ll have officers engaging with the crowd and using CCTV to keep an eye on things. Plus, they’re working with local bars and clubs to promote safe drinking and personal safety.
