An author faces challenges in proving the identity of the notorious Glasgow killer Bible John
Glasgow: So, there’s this author, Jill Bavin-Mizzi, who’s been digging into the Bible John murders. She thinks she might have found the guy behind it all—John Templeton. But now, she’s hit a snag.
Jill was hoping to get a DNA sample from a relative of Templeton, who died in 2015. She wanted to match it with DNA found on the last victim, Helen Puttock. But it turns out Templeton was cremated and has no known relatives in Scotland. Bummer, right?
Now, Jill’s hired a private investigator in Edinburgh to see if she can track down any family members, maybe even in England. She’s determined to find out if Templeton is indeed Bible John. She believes the families of the victims deserve some answers after all these years.
She’s feeling a bit down about not finding any relatives yet but isn’t ready to throw in the towel. Jill’s convinced that Templeton is the killer and is still on the hunt for that elusive DNA match.
In her quest, she even found Templeton’s ex-wife, who shared a photo that looks a lot like a police sketch of Bible John. Plus, she revealed that Templeton was questioned by police shortly after Helen’s murder back in 1969.
Jill’s research has been pretty extensive. She even looked into another suspect, John McInnes, who was also linked to the case. But when they dug up his body, there was no match with the DNA from Helen’s clothing. That led Jill to wonder if the DNA might connect back to Templeton somehow.
She’s been tracing family trees and has found connections to a village in Ayrshire. The three victims were all last seen at the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow, and their bodies were found near their homes. It’s a chilling case that still haunts the city.
Police Scotland has said they’re still looking into these unresolved murders, so who knows? Maybe Jill will crack the case wide open.
