A new playground in Bexley has been vandalised ahead of its opening, causing community outrage and calls for information.
Bexley: So, there’s been some really unfortunate news about a new playground in Bexley. It got seriously vandalised before it even opened to the public. Can you believe it? The equipment at Riverside Gardens, which was all set to welcome families this spring, is now covered in graffiti.
Cllr Munur, Bexley’s Cabinet Member for Growth, didn’t hold back. He called it a “disgusting act of senseless vandalism” that just brings upset to the community. It’s really sad to see something meant to bring joy get ruined like this.
They’re working with the police to track down whoever did this. Cllr Munur is urging anyone who might have seen something to step forward. It’s a busy area with lots of flats, so hopefully, someone knows something.
The council is asking for help, too. If you have any info, they want you to email them at erith@bexley.gov.uk. It’s all about getting justice for the community.
The Riverside Gardens were supposed to be a lovely spot, with new seating, a playground, and even an outdoor fitness zone. It’s a real shame that these improvements are overshadowed by this vandalism.
They’re still planning to open the playground in Spring 2025, so let’s hope they can sort this out before then. It’s all part of the Greater Erith programme, funded by the council and partners. Fingers crossed for a brighter future for Riverside Gardens!
