Belfast’s New Lodge Road will undergo significant resurfacing, impacting traffic until April 2025
Belfast: A big resurfacing project kicked off on Monday, costing £446,000. The work is happening on New Lodge Road, from Antrim Road to North Queen Street.
The Department for Infrastructure says this will really help both residents and drivers in the area. They’re planning to finish the work in two phases, with road closures from 8 am to 6 pm.
They expect to wrap things up by April 16, 2025. Infrastructure Minister John O’Dowd mentioned that this investment shows a commitment to improving the road network and supporting local businesses.
He thanked everyone for their patience during the work. The first phase will close Antrim Road to Lepper Street from January 13 to February 14, 2025, while the second phase will cover Lepper Street to North Queen Street from February 17 to April 16, 2025.
During these closures, there will be signed detours in place. The Department is trying to minimize inconvenience, but they advise drivers to expect some delays and plan ahead.
They’ll keep everyone updated on any changes, and for more details on this and other projects, you can check out www.TrafficwatchNI.com.
