Belfast: So, Belfast Live readers have been chatting about what they want for the city in 2025. They shared their thoughts over the weekend, and wow, did they have some great ideas!

Our city has a lot going for it, but there are definitely some things that could make life even better. People are really hoping for more housing in the city center, less traffic, and improved public transport that runs later. Plus, they want to see more of those empty spaces turned into something useful.

Some fun suggestions popped up too! Readers are asking for fireworks on Halloween and New Year, a revival of Belfast Culture Night, and a new spot for the Christmas Market. Oh, and more filming for Line of Duty would be a hit!

One reader made a heartfelt point about helping the homeless, saying there are plenty of empty places that could be used for them. Another reader chimed in, saying they’re tired of American food chains taking over. And someone else suggested fixing up the derelict areas around North St and Donegal St.

Another reader had a bunch of ideas, like creating a 15-minute city where everything is close by, making more local films, and expanding the Christmas Market but with some restrictions. They even suggested a cool, eco-friendly light show for Halloween and New Year instead of traditional fireworks.

One more reader was frustrated with the bus lanes and the endless student housing popping up. They want to see Culture Night return and stop decisions that don’t seem to help anyone, like those bus lanes.

Other ideas included rebuilding Casement Park, keeping our streets clean, and getting drugs off the streets. It’s clear that Belfast folks have a lot of passion for their city!
