May 13 will be celebrated as Bee Lady Day to honor Jean Bishop’s legacy and inspire community involvement across Hull.
Hull: A special day is coming to honor Jean Bishop, known as The Bee Lady. She raised a lot of money for Age UK Hull & East Yorkshire. May 13, her birthday, will now be Bee Lady Day.
Age UK HEY hopes this day will become a tradition. They want everyone in the community to join in. Schools, businesses, and individuals are encouraged to participate and celebrate Jean’s spirit.
Kayleigh Carter from Age UK HEY said Jean would have loved this idea. She was a local legend who inspired many. The day aims to keep her memory alive and encourage others to give back.
Hull Trains is also joining the fun. They will run a special Bee Lady train, taking clients on a memorable ride. The city will light up in amber to celebrate, including City Hall and Hull Minster.
Planning for this event started last November. The excitement has grown as more people want to get involved. The community is buzzing with ideas and energy for this special day.
Jean Bishop raised an incredible £124,000 over her lifetime. She transformed many lives through her fundraising efforts. Now, Bee Lady Day will honor her legacy and inspire future generations.
Age UK HEY invites everyone to join in. Whether you want to host a fundraiser or support the event, your involvement is welcome. Let’s make Bee Lady Day a cherished tradition in Hull.
Jean, who passed away in 2021 at 99, was dedicated to helping others. She was a true ambassador for Hull. This day will continue her amazing work and spirit.
On Bee Lady Day, Age UK HEY will be at Prospect Centre and Hull Paragon Interchange, raising funds just like Jean used to do. It’s a great way to remember her and support the community.
