Broadclyst: Exciting news! Plans for a stunning new park at Broadclyst Station have been given the green light. This place will be a beautiful escape for families, pets, and wildlife alike.

Clyst Meadows Country Park will cover ten hectares, providing a safe and scenic spot for everyone to enjoy nature. There will be plenty of walking paths, making it easy for folks to explore the outdoors.

Dog owners will love the secure area where their furry friends can run free. Plus, there will be parking for 16 cars, including spots for those with disabilities, and bike parking too. Local schools can even use the park as an outdoor classroom!

This park is set to boost the local ecosystem with hedgerows and mature trees that already host a variety of wildlife. It’s expected to achieve over 10% Biodiversity Net Gain, which is fantastic for protecting our environment.

There will also be safe walking and cycling paths connecting Minerva Country Park with Cranbrook Country Park, part of the larger Clyst Valley Regional Park. It’s all about making it easier for everyone to enjoy the outdoors.

A public consultation took place in March 2023, and they listened to feedback. Changes include a bigger car park and making sure paths are accessible for everyone.

Clyst Meadows will be owned by East Devon District Council and managed by the East Devon Countryside Team, working alongside Broadclyst Parish Council and the community. There will be chances for volunteering and educational activities, so if you’re interested, reach out!

Cllr Geoff Jung from the council shared his excitement, saying this park will be a valuable space for locals to enjoy nature, which is great for health and wellbeing.

Cllr Henry Massey added that this park aligns with the Broadclyst Neighbourhood Plan, aiming to protect and enhance green spaces. It’s a wonderful opportunity for residents to connect with nature while promoting sustainability.

Ben Morgan-Brown, the nature reserves ranger, is looking forward to the park opening. He emphasized the importance of balancing nature and community needs, making it a win-win for everyone involved.
