Get ready for the return of BBC’s Strike with a recap of Series 5 and what to expect in the upcoming episodes of The Ink Black Heart
London: So, the BBC’s crime drama Strike is making a comeback this Christmas! We’ll see our favorite detectives, Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott, diving into another mystery. Last time we saw them was in Christmas 2022 with Strike: Troubled Blood, which was a massive hit, pulling in around 8.4 million viewers.
This new series is based on the sixth book, The Ink Black Heart, where they’ll be investigating the death of a well-known cartoonist named Edie Ledwell. It’s been two years since we last caught up with them, so we’ve put together a recap to get you all set for the new episodes.
In the last series, Strike and Robin tackled a cold case about a doctor named Margot Bamborough who went missing back in 1974. They faced a bunch of twists and turns, but eventually figured out that Margot was killed by a nurse named Janice Beattie, who was living under a fake name.
Janice tried to poison Cormoran with some chocolates, but he was onto her. She had a pretty dark plan, using a drugged donut to take out Margot instead. It was a wild ride, and the series ended with Janice going to trial.
On a personal note, Cormoran lost his Aunt Joan, who raised him, and Robin finalized her divorce from her husband, Matt. There was a moment that hinted at some romance between Cormoran and Robin, but he just hugged her and called her his best friend. Will they finally get together in series six? We’ll have to wait and see!
