Southport: So, it turns out Axel Rudakubana had a pretty dark past. Former classmates shared how he attacked kids back when he was just 13. Can you believe that?

He recently pleaded guilty to the murders of three young girls at a dance workshop. But four years before that, he was already causing trouble at school.

Rudakubana was kicked out after being caught with a knife. Then, he came back with a hockey stick and started swinging it at kids. Two teachers had to step in to stop him.

One classmate recalled how strange he looked standing by the doors, and how a teacher tried to calm him down. It’s chilling to think about what happened next.

He even wrote the names of other students on the hockey stick before he went on the attack, injuring one child seriously. After that incident, he vanished from the school scene.

When news broke about the dance studio attack, everyone was shocked. They remembered him and thought, “Wow, thank goodness it was just a hockey stick back then.”

It’s unclear if the police were ever notified about his earlier attack. But it paints a picture of a troubled kid who was obsessed with dark topics like child killings.

Rudakubana was flagged by counter-terrorism authorities multiple times for his online searches about school shootings. Yet, experts didn’t see him as a real threat at the time.

He even had a stint in a BBC sketch, but that didn’t stop him from being referred to a deradicalisation program later on. It’s just so unsettling to think about how he slipped through the cracks.

At the time of the murders, he was under social services supervision, and they insisted on having a police officer present during their meetings with him. It’s a tragic situation all around.
