Bridlington: Two amazing guys from East Yorkshire, Sam Waddington and Rob Smith, are getting some well-deserved recognition for their charity work. They’ve both been through tough times after losing limbs but have turned their experiences into something positive.

Sam, who lost his leg in a motorbike accident back in 2013, has been a real champion for others. He’s been volunteering with Day One Trauma Support, helping folks who’ve had serious injuries. He even went on a 96-mile hike to raise money for the charity!

Rob, on the other hand, lost his leg in a forklift accident in 2021. He’s also been super active in fundraising and inspiring others. Both of them received awards from Day One, which is just fantastic. Sam got the Volunteer Champion Award, while Rob was honored as the Inspirational Fundraiser.

It’s incredible how they’ve turned their struggles into a way to help others. Sam mentioned feeling alone after his accident, but now he’s giving emotional support to others in similar situations. He’s really making a difference!

Rob shared how nice it was to connect with volunteers who understood what he was going through. Their stories are not just about loss; they’re about hope and resilience. It’s heartwarming to see them recognized for their efforts.

During the awards ceremony, the charity’s senior fundraising officer praised both men for their achievements. It’s clear that their work is helping many people rebuild their lives after traumatic injuries. They’re true inspirations!
