Two Australians were heartbroken after their long trip to Edinburgh for Hogmanay was ruined by cancellations
Edinburgh: A couple from Australia was really bummed out after traveling over 10,000 miles from Adelaide just to find out the Hogmanay celebrations were cancelled.
Kaleb Bowering and his partner had planned a few weeks of travel, ending in Edinburgh for the famous New Year’s festival. They were super excited about the fireworks, which Kaleb said would be way better than anything back home.
He spent around $3,000 AU (about £1,500) on their stay in the UK, all to be in the capital for Hogmanay. They had always wanted to visit Edinburgh and catch up with family while experiencing the festivities.
Kaleb mentioned they had seen tons of TikToks about the 2024 New Year’s celebrations, which made them even more eager to go. But when the fireworks got cancelled, they were really upset.
He said it was heartbreaking, especially after dealing with a parking fine and then hearing the bad news about Hogmanay. They understood that weather can’t be controlled, but seeing others enjoy fireworks while they missed out was a letdown.
Despite the disappointment, they still managed to have a good time wandering the streets, watching people light firecrackers and dance. But Kaleb admitted they wished they could have experienced the full event.
