An artisan pizza van will operate in a pub car park, facing objections from nearby residents over potential issues like litter and traffic.
Thornbury: So, there’s this artisan pizza van that’s moving from the High Street to a pub car park. It’s called One Pizza, run by two Italian cousins, Esra and Ayse. They make these amazing wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas. The local council gave them the green light to set up outside The Black Horse pub, even though some neighbors aren’t too happy about it.
Four residents raised concerns about things like litter, traffic, and even food smells. They worry it might attract kids after school, which is a bit of a stretch, right? The cousins already have a few spots where they sell their pizzas, but they decided to switch locations because parking was a hassle in the town center.
One neighbor mentioned that the road is busy and can get clogged easily. They also pointed out that there’s already a litter problem in the area. Another resident shared their past issues with the pub, like noise and overflow parking. It sounds like they’re really worried about the pizza van making things worse.
But here’s the thing: Esra and Ayse have been in business for three years and have a five-star food hygiene rating. They said they won’t be serving school kids since their hours are from 3 PM to 9 PM. They’re really aiming for families during dinner time.
Esra explained that they want to be closer to their customers and that the pub car park is a good spot. They promised to keep the area clean and said they’d only be there one day a week. Plus, they’ve had no complaints at their other locations.
It seems like the council is on board, and if all goes well, they’ll give up their High Street license. So, fingers crossed for some delicious pizza without too much fuss!
