Eight individuals were arrested following reports of chanting during the Liverpool vs Manchester United match, causing public outrage.
Liverpool: The incident unfolded during a Premier League match at Anfield on Sunday. Fans were reportedly chanting about tragedies, which sparked outrage.
Eight people were either arrested or interviewed under caution. This included a 46-year-old man from Church Warsop and a 28-year-old man from Hendersonville, Tennessee.
They were taken in under the Public Order Act for their chanting. Others were also asked to come in for questioning, including a 42-year-old from Hale and a 30-year-old from Stockport.
Chief Inspector Lisa Ledder spoke out about the situation. She emphasized that such chanting causes immense distress to families affected by tragedies.
She made it clear that this behavior has no place in football. Regardless of team loyalties, they’re committed to identifying and punishing those responsible.
Lisa hopes these arrests send a strong message. If you engage in this kind of behavior, you could end up with a criminal record.
