A man was arrested at Connolly Station following reports of a passenger with a suspected firearm on a train
Dublin: So, there was quite a scene at Connolly Station today. A man got arrested after someone reported him for having a suspected firearm on a train. Talk about a tense moment!
This all went down around 6:20 PM, and it caused a bit of chaos. They even had to pause all train services while the Gardaí checked things out. The guy, who’s in his 50s, was taken into custody right there.
The Gardaí didn’t mess around. They sent in a bunch of armed response units to handle the situation. Luckily, it seems the man didn’t threaten anyone on the train, which is a relief.
Turns out, he’s an Irish citizen. A Garda spokesperson mentioned that he’s being held under some serious legislation. They’ve also seized the firearm for a thorough examination to see what’s what under Irish law.
For safety, they evacuated the station and checked both the train and the station itself. Good news is, everything’s back to normal now, and the station has reopened.
If anyone has more info about this incident, they’re encouraged to reach out to the Gardaí. They also reminded folks to be careful about what they share online, as there’s been some misinformation floating around.
