The tragic death of a young armed police officer in Exmouth has left many in shock and mourning
Exmouth: It’s such a sad situation. A 26-year-old former soldier and armed police officer, Toby Feeney, was found dead at the Imperial Recreation Ground just before Christmas. People are really feeling the loss.
Toby, who lived in Buckfastleigh, was discovered on December 21, 2024, by someone passing by. An inquest has started at Exeter Coroner’s Court to look into what happened. It turns out Toby was born in Germany and worked as a refrigeration engineer.
According to the area coroner, Alison Longhorn, Toby had been at a party in Exmouth with his partner the night before. They left separately, and that’s when things took a tragic turn.
His friend got worried after Toby reached out, and the next day, a member of the public found him in a public place. Sadly, emergency services confirmed he had passed away. They still haven’t figured out the exact cause of death.
The inquest will continue later, but right now, his family is sharing heartfelt tributes. Toby’s older brother Rob, who lives in Norway, expressed how deeply Toby impacted their lives and how proud they are of his achievements.
Rob said they’ll do everything to keep Toby’s memory alive. His younger brother Sam also shared how painful it is to lose him, highlighting the special bond they had. It’s a tough time for everyone who knew him.
