A Blackburn hotel will be transformed into two homes after planning approval, despite noise concerns from a nearby Islamic Centre
Blackburn: So, there’s some news about a hotel in Blackburn. The Chimneys Guest House is getting a makeover into two big homes. The owner, Suhel Miah, is cool with the noise from the Shia Islamic Centre next door. He’s been living there for eight years and says the noise is manageable.
The local council gave the thumbs up for this change, but they did set a few conditions. The property used to be two homes before it became a hotel, so it’s kind of going back to its roots. It’s a spacious place with a big yard and a driveway, which is a plus.
Now, the Shia Centre can get a bit loud during gatherings, with stamping and chanting, but it’s not all the time. The council’s public protection team suggested some double-glazing to help with the noise for the future residents. They want to make sure it’s a comfy living space.
Interestingly, there won’t be any major changes to the building itself. The plans to create a new access road were scrapped because of safety concerns. So, it looks like this hotel-to-home project is on track, and the community is buzzing about it!
