Edale: So, there’s been quite a stir in the Peak District lately. Hundreds of cars parked all over the place, blocking the gritters from getting through. It happened near Rushup Edge and Man Nick, right on the road leading to Edale.

This area is super popular for hiking, especially around Mam Tor, where folks love to take in the stunning views. The local council even posted a message online, saying they couldn’t get their gritters through because of about 200 cars parked there.

They urged drivers to move their cars, pointing out that if the gritters couldn’t get through, neither could emergency vehicles like buses or fire engines. People were understandably upset about the situation, as reported by the Mirror.

One local vented their frustration, mentioning how cars were parked on both sides of the road, making it nearly impossible to navigate. It’s getting out of hand, and it seems like no one is stepping in to help.

Another person suggested that the police should tow away some of those cars, so the owners would have a long walk home and a hefty bill to pay to get their vehicles back. Sounds fair, right?

One hiker shared their experience, saying they went to climb Mam Tor early in the morning but were shocked by the parking situation. The snow had already narrowed the road, and the double parking made it even more dangerous. They decided to head back home instead.

On top of all this, the UK is facing some seriously cold weather. The Met Office issued nine rare ‘amber’ health alerts across England, warning that temperatures could drop to dangerous levels. Last night, it got as cold as -18.7C in Scotland!

In England, places like Cumbria and Heathrow saw temperatures plummet to -11C and -5C, respectively. The UK Health Security Agency has extended these alerts, especially for vulnerable folks over 65 or with health issues.

According to a meteorologist, while it’s going to be chilly for a bit longer, we might see some improvement in temperatures soon. But for now, it’s still pretty frosty out there!
