Alford Academy is providing support to its community after the tragic death of a pupil during the festive break
Aberdeenshire: It’s a tough time for Alford Academy after losing one of its students during the holiday break. The school community is heartbroken.
They reached out to parents and carers on Monday, sharing the sad news. Headteacher Angela Wotherspoon wrote a heartfelt letter to everyone connected to the school.
In her message, she mentioned that the pupil passed away on January 2, 2025. She emphasized how hard this is for the family, friends, and the entire school community.
To help everyone cope, the school is working with partners to provide support. If anyone needs assistance, they can contact the school office or send an email.
In light of this tragedy and the bad weather, Alford Academy decided to postpone the prelim exams for S4-S6 students by a week. The new exam dates are now from January 14 to January 29, 2025.
They want to ensure that students have the time they need to prepare and process this sad news. The school is still open for all pupils, weather permitting, and they hope to keep things as normal as possible.
