Aldi has been ranked as the UK’s cheapest supermarket for 2024, with Lidl and Asda following closely behind in price.
London: So, guess what? Aldi has snagged the title of the cheapest supermarket in the UK for 2024! This comes from a study by Which?, a consumer website that compared prices across the big players like Lidl, Asda, and Tesco.
They looked at prices for a shopping list of 56 everyday items, and Aldi came out on top every month. Shoppers who went with Aldi saved an average of £393 compared to those who shopped at Waitrose, which is the priciest option.
Harry Rose, the editor of Which?, mentioned that after the holiday spending, many families are keen to save some cash. Switching supermarkets can really help with that, he said.
In December, that shopping list cost £100.29 at Aldi, while Lidl was just a smidge more expensive at £101.48. Waitrose, on the other hand, was a whopping £29.54 more than Aldi!
Interestingly, Asda was the cheapest for larger shops of 150 items for nine months, but Tesco’s Clubcard prices have made it competitive lately. Waitrose, however, remained the most expensive for bigger shops throughout the year.
So, if you’re looking to save some money on groceries, it might be worth checking out Aldi or Lidl!
