A tumble dryer fire in Swansea left the appliance completely destroyed, prompting safety reminders from local fire services.
Swansea: So, there was this fire in a house caused by a tumble dryer. It happened on Ffordd Cambria in Pontarddulais. Fire crews rushed over on January 7 after getting the call.
The person living there managed to pull the dryer out before the firefighters arrived. The teams from Gorseinon and Pontarddulais used a hose and some other gear to put out the flames. They got there around 6:25 PM and wrapped things up in about 40 minutes.
Luckily, no one got hurt, but the tumble dryer was totally wrecked. The Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service took this chance to remind everyone about being safe with tumble dryers and other appliances.
They said it’s super important not to leave these machines running when you’re not home or when you’re asleep. Tumble dryers can get really hot, especially if you overload them or toss in items soaked in flammable stuff like cooking oil. If you ever smell something burning or notice your clothes are too hot after a cycle, get a pro to check it out.
