Aberdeen’s Bon Accord Distillery plans to revive whisky production and boost tourism.
Aberdeen: The city is getting a new whisky distillery! The Bon Accord Distillery has received planning approval on Greyhope Road. This site used to be the Bon Accord Drinks factory, blending history with a fresh start in whisky production.
The distillery will create high-quality single malt Scotch whisky. It will also be a fun visitor spot with tours, tastings, and interactive exhibits. This project aims to celebrate Aberdeen’s brewing history and boost the local economy.
Currently, Fierce Beer is the only brewery in the city. They are nearing their 10th anniversary. Davis Gonnella, the Brand Director of Bon Accord Distillery, is excited about the project. He believes it will create a lasting legacy for Aberdeen and support local businesses.
Gonnella said they want the distillery to be a source of pride for locals. They plan to feature local food businesses, showcasing the best of north-east Scotland alongside their whisky.
The distillery will also partner with Fierce Beer and John Chomba, a renowned chef. Chomba will serve as Managing Director, bringing his experience to the project.
Construction is set to start this summer. The distillery will use renewable energy and eco-friendly practices. Whisky lovers can look forward to a new landmark on Aberdeen’s waterfront.
Once operational, the distillery will create jobs and boost tourism. It will include a visitor center and gift shop, benefiting local businesses.
Gonnella emphasized that this project is about more than whisky. It’s about creating jobs and contributing to the local economy. Aberdeen is ready to reclaim its place in whisky heritage!
