Get ready, Aberdeen! The Tall Ships Race 2025 is set to bring a stunning fleet and thousands of visitors to the city this summer.
Aberdeen: One of the biggest maritime events is coming back to Scotland! The Tall Ships Race 2025 is expected to draw around 500,000 spectators. How exciting is that?
This summer, Aberdeen will welcome nearly 50 ships from all over the globe. The harbour is set to be transformed into a stunning “forest of masts.” It’s been almost 30 years since the races last visited the Granite City.
Among the ships already signed up is the Mexican Navy’s “Cuauhtémoc.” It’ll be joined by Poland’s “Fryderyk Chopin” and Denmark’s “LOA,” a beautiful three-masted schooner. So far, 44 vessels have confirmed, and we’re hoping to see over 50 by May.
The races will take place from July 19 to July 22, and the fleet will also visit French cities like Le Havre and Dunkirk, as well as Kristiansand in Norway and Esbjerg in Denmark. Over 900 people have already signed up to volunteer for this amazing event!
Vanessa Mori from Sail Training International, which organizes the races, shared that all the host ports will offer incredible experiences. She believes Aberdeen’s rich maritime history and warm hospitality make it the perfect spot for these magnificent ships and their crews.
Adrian Watson, the chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, expressed his excitement too. He said, “All sea lanes lead to Aberdeen,” and he can’t wait to see the harbour filled with these beautiful vessels. It’s not just about the ships; it’s also a big boost for the local economy and the city’s reputation.
So, mark your calendars and get ready for a fantastic summer in Aberdeen!
