Residents express outrage over the neglected former swimming pool site in Tewkesbury
Tewkesbury: So, there’s this old swimming pool site that’s been sitting empty for eight years. It used to be called Cascades, but now it’s just a mess of weeds. People are really upset about it, calling it a total disgrace.
The local council knocked it down back in 2016 to make way for a new leisure center, but nothing has happened since. Residents are frustrated, especially former town mayor John Badham, who thinks it’s time to do something about it.
He took to social media to vent, saying it’s not just this site but other rundown areas in town that need fixing too. He pointed out that you wouldn’t see this kind of neglect in nearby towns like Chipping Campden or Broadway.
Others chimed in online, calling the site an eyesore. Many folks feel it’s a missed chance to create something useful, like a big supermarket or a year-round market.
When asked why there’s been no action, the council said they’re looking into it and have plans for parking and housing. But they didn’t say when any of that might actually happen.
