Thurso: So, there’s been a pretty nasty crash on the A9 involving a lorry and two cars. It happened in the Highlands, where the weather’s been really rough with snow and ice.

Emergency services are on the scene right now, but the road is closed in both directions. It’s a bit of a mess out there, and we don’t know yet if anyone got hurt.

This crash comes just as the area was hit with a yellow weather warning for snow and ice. The warning started on Sunday afternoon and covers all sorts of nasty weather like snow showers and rain.

Because of the conditions, several schools in the area, like Keiss Primary and Portree High School, have had to close today. It’s just not safe for kids to be out and about.

The Met Office is saying we might see some travel disruptions today too, especially with flooding from the heavy rain and melting snow. The weather warning is set to last until 11 am on Monday.

Traffic Scotland has advised everyone to steer clear of the A9 near Shalmstry, south of Thurso, due to the collision. They’re really urging folks to avoid the area if they can.

We’ve reached out to Police Scotland for more info, so hopefully, we’ll get an update soon.
