The A3 southbound is closed near Hindhead Tunnel due to a technical fault, prompting diversions for drivers in the area.
Hindhead: So, there’s been a bit of a hiccup on the A3 southbound. The Hindhead Tunnel is closed because of a technical fault with one of the traffic signals. This all kicked off early in the morning on January 9, around 2 AM, and it’s still a no-go zone.
National Highways is on it, but they can’t say exactly when the road will reopen. They’re hoping it’ll be later today, but who knows? They’ve got specialists working on the issue, so fingers crossed.
In the meantime, traffic is being diverted. If you’re in the area, you’ll see local diversions, but if you’re coming from further away, it’s a longer detour. Just a heads up if you’re planning to hit the road.
For those needing to reroute, just follow the solid triangle diversion signs. You’ll need to take the Stag Hill interchange and head towards Farnham on the A31. It’s about a 7-mile stretch to the Shepherd and Flock roundabout, then you’ll keep going on the A31 Farnham Bypass.
After that, cross over to the A325 and follow it all the way to the Longmoor Interchange roundabout. Finally, take the second exit to get back on the A3 southbound. It’s a bit of a trek, so plan for extra time if you’re heading that way.
