A 72-year-old man passed away after being assaulted during a burglary at his home in Somerset, leading to a murder investigation.
Keynsham: So, there’s been a really sad story coming out of Somerset. A 72-year-old guy named Stephen Ridgeway was attacked in his own home. It happened on November 3rd, and he sadly passed away a month later.
Apparently, two men knocked on his door and forced their way in. They assaulted him and took off with some of his stuff, including alcohol and phones. He was in the hospital for a while, but his condition just kept getting worse.
Now, the police have arrested two men, one in his 30s and another in his 40s, on suspicion of murder. They were released, but the investigation is still ongoing. The Major Crime Investigation Team is on it, and they’re asking anyone who might have seen something to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector James Wasiak mentioned that they’re looking for any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident. It’s a tough situation, and the police are doing their best to support Stephen’s family during this difficult time.
