Authorities rescued 50 cats from a Mountain Ash property, where they were found living in appalling conditions, including cramped cages and a dirty cupboard.
Mountain Ash: Can you believe it? A total of 50 cats were rescued from a house where they were living in terrible conditions. Some were crammed into cages, and others were found in a filthy cupboard under the stairs. It’s just heartbreaking.
This all started when the RSPCA got reports about the situation. They first rescued 35 cats back in October 2023, and then another 15 in February 2024. The poor things were living in cages filled with their own mess. Just awful!
The owners, David Thomas and Pauline Perry, had already been banned from keeping pets after failing to care for 11 cats. They were in court again recently, facing more charges under the Animal Welfare Act. It’s like they just didn’t learn their lesson.
During the inspections, RSPCA Deputy Chief Inspector Gemma Cooper described the conditions as shocking. She saw cats in cages that were soaked and filthy. Some were even underweight and clearly distressed. It was a sad sight.
When they went back to the property, they found even more cats hidden away. It’s just unbelievable that they thought they could keep so many animals in such awful conditions. The RSPCA had to step in and take them all for proper care.
After the rescue, the cats were taken to a veterinary clinic for check-ups. Sadly, one had to be put to sleep due to a tumor, but the rest just needed some love and care. They’re doing much better now and are on their way to finding new homes.
It’s a relief to know that these cats are safe now. They just needed a chance to be happy and healthy. Let’s hope their story helps raise awareness about animal welfare and the importance of caring for pets properly.
