Barking: This month, residents in Barking and Dagenham are dealing with several road closures due to repair work. It’s a bit of a hassle, but one road that’s been closed for a while is finally set to reopen.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, there are a few closures happening in January. For instance, Longbridge Road is closed eastbound from Forterie Gardens to Goodmayes Lane for emergency gas repairs. This closure started last Thursday and should wrap up by Friday night.

Stratton Drive is also closed until Friday for urgent water repairs. It’s been shut since Monday afternoon, but they plan to have it open again by the end of the week. The council has put up signs to help folks find alternative routes.

Then there’s Alfreds Way, which will be closed overnight for some work by Transport for London. They’re not saying exactly what they’re up to, but it’ll be closed from 10 PM Tuesday until early Wednesday.

Freshwater Road in Dagenham is another story. It’s going to stay closed until January 19 because of the ongoing demolition of the Spectrum Building, which caught fire last August. Pedestrians can still get through, but cars are out of luck for now.

Lastly, Cranborne Road will be shut on January 31 for Thames Water repairs. If you want to stay updated on all these closures, check out the council’s website.
