An 18-year-old man has been arrested following a tragic hit-and-run that killed a woman in Paisley on New Year’s Eve
Paisley: A tragic incident unfolded when a woman lost her life in a hit-and-run on New Year’s Eve. The victim, Elizabeth Kennedy, was 70 years old.
She was hit by a car on Barrhead Road around 7 PM last Tuesday. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.
Police Scotland had been on the lookout for the driver who fled the scene, along with the vehicle involved. They announced today that they arrested an 18-year-old man.
This young man has since been released while the investigation continues. Detective Inspector Jan MacColl expressed condolences to Elizabeth’s family and friends.
DI MacColl mentioned that the police are still supporting Ms. Kennedy’s loved ones as they gather more information.
They’re asking anyone who saw the crash or a white car in the area that night, especially if it had damage, to come forward.
