A 15-year-old boy is in serious condition after being hit by a car in Barrhead, part of a troubling series of hit-and-runs in the area.
Glasgow: A 15-year-old boy is in serious condition after a hit-and-run in Barrhead. He was riding his electric bike when a car struck him and sped off around 10:55 PM on New Year’s Day.
He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where doctors are working hard to help him. The car involved is thought to be a silver Vauxhall Astra, and police are on the hunt to find it.
This incident is part of a worrying trend. Just days earlier, on New Year’s Eve, a 70-year-old woman named Elizabeth Kennedy was killed in a hit-and-run in Paisley. She was hit by a white car on Barrhead Road.
And let’s not forget about Christmas Day, when a 53-year-old woman was knocked down in Castlemilk, Glasgow. That car, possibly a dark grey Ford S-Max, briefly stopped before the occupants drove off. They were described as Asian males with Scottish accents.
All these incidents happened within a 10-mile radius in south Glasgow and Renfrewshire, which is pretty alarming. Police are urging anyone who might have seen anything or has dash-cam footage to come forward.
Sergeant Ally Wright mentioned that they’ve confirmed a car was involved in the Barrhead incident and are working hard to piece everything together. They really want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time.
Detective Inspector Jan MacColl also expressed condolences to Elizabeth’s family and friends, emphasizing that they’re there to support them as the investigation continues. They’re asking anyone who might have seen a white car with possible damage to reach out.
If you have any information about these incidents, don’t hesitate to call 101 and quote the relevant incident number. Every little bit helps!
