Exciting projects in Merseyside promise to reshape the region’s economy and infrastructure, creating jobs and new spaces for residents and visitors alike
Liverpool: There’s a lot happening in our area that’s set to change things up. Various projects are in the works to breathe new life into parts of Merseyside.
One of the big ones is the Central Docks project, which is part of Liverpool Waters. It’s going to turn the old docklands into a vibrant neighborhood with parks and over 2,000 new homes.
Then there’s the Woodside Ferry Terminal in Wirral, which is getting a major facelift. The goal is to make it a lively waterfront spot, and it’s expected to be done by summer 2025.
Also, the Littlewoods building is being transformed into a film and TV campus. It’s a historic art deco site, and the plans are to create studios and spaces for productions, aiming to make Liverpool the ‘Hollywood of the North’.
Everton FC is moving to a brand-new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock for the 2025/26 season. This new venue will hold 52,000 fans and is part of a £760 million project.
Bootle Strand is also on the list for a makeover. The shopping center is set to undergo significant changes, with demolition work starting soon to pave the way for new developments.
Huyton Village is getting a revamp too, with plans for a mixed-use commercial area, affordable homes, and new leisure facilities. It’s all about creating a vibrant town center.
In Southport, the Marine Lake Events Centre is being built, which will host various events and is expected to attract a ton of visitors each year.
And let’s not forget about the new Mersey Ferry, which is being constructed to replace the old one. It’ll have modern features and is set to launch in 2026.
